In order to estimate de distance covered during a match, 12 (twelve) players from the Argentine B First Soccer Division were filmed during several competitive matches. Complementary, there were obtained parameters to describe morphological and functional characteristics of them. The Total mean match distance covered during competitive matches was 10,34km., and High Intensity mean distance covered was 1,73km.. In average, Midfielders (MC) covered 10,87km., while Forwards (DL) and Defenders (DF) reached 10,04km. and 10,10km. respectively. While for MC, the most important percentages of mean distances covered were related to displacement velocities of 12km/h., 16km/h. and 21km/h., for DL the most outstanding percentages corresponded to 6km/h and All Out. The most relevant percentages of mean distances covered for DF were 8km/h. and backwards running (12km/h.). There are proposed correlations between morphological and functional parameters, and partial and total match distances calculated from displacement velocities. The mentioned partial and total match distances parameters, could be conditioned by strategy-tactical and psychological aspects and sport level. This final observation is in accordance with several studies that catalogue soccer as a multifactor requirement open sport. ® 2.003 Scientific Kinetics All rights reserved.
